Robert Gene Key, Sr. 80, passed away Friday January 27, 2017. Bob was born July 14, 1936 in Fletcher Oklahoma to his parents, Alvin and Maisie Key. He was the second oldest of five brothers.
Throughout his early years, he made many moves with his family, eventually arriving in Petaluma, California. Bob served in the Air Force and was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, and worked as a radar technician. While in the Air Force, Bob met Veneta Eller and the two later married on August 3, 1959.
Bob attended Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, TN for a time. The couple moved to California, where Bob became an electrician. He worked as an electrician until retirement. Bob enjoyed serving and helping others, which he did through leadership in Pathfinders and other church groups. He also enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, and camping. He found great joy in being around his friends, family, and grandchildren. Bob was a faithful husband, father, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Veneta; their son, Robert and his wife Michelle; his grandchildren, Jonathan Key, Jocelyn Key, and Michael Key; and his brothers, Richard Key, Ralph Key, David Key, and Frank Key. A memorial will be held at the Yakima Seventh-day Adventist Church, 35th Ave on Saturday, February 11th at 3pm, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend. Arrangements are by Rainier Memorial Center of Yakima.
