Carolyn S. Paul died peacefully at home surrounded by family, Monday, September 18, 2017. Carolyn was born to Adley and Lula Mahan Shockley near Pumpkin Center in the Granger, WA area.
Carolyn spent her early years in the Granger area. When she was in her teens, her family moved to Gleed, WA. She graduated from Yakima High School, then went on to Yakima Business College. Carolyn worked at General Electric (GE) in Richland, WA. At a community dance to support our troops in the Hanford area, Carolyn met her future husband Robert Paul Sr. who went by the name Bob. Carolyn and Bob were married in 1955 in Dayton, WA.
Carolyn then took on the toughest job in the Army, the “Army wife.” The family moved to various Army bases throughout the world. Carolyn devoted her life to the family until Bob retired from the Army in 1972. The family then settled back in Yakima. When the kids were older, Carolyn went back to school. She earned her AA degree from Yakima Valley College. She worked at a real estate office and earned her real estate license. Carolyn then went to work at DSHS until she retired from the State in 1996. Carolyn enjoyed traveling to the beach, the Gorge, Nevada, Montana, and various other places. She enjoyed taking gambling trips with friends and family.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Pamela Emmerson (Kenny) of Naches, WA, Robert Paul Jr. (Bonnie) of Oak Harbor, WA, and Penelope Paul of Yakima, WA.
Carolyn also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Paul Sizemore, Samantha Day-Emmerson, Kenny J. Emmerson, Robert Paul III, Eric Paul, Trisha Flores, and Corinne Steavens; and six great-grandchildren: Alex Reyes, Devin Draisey, Robert Paul IV, Jordyn Paul, Bentley Paul, and Greyson (Greyhawk) Flores.
Viewing for Carolyn will be at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr., Yakima, WA 98901 on September 29, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Graveside services will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park & Crematory, 3001 Terrace Heights Drive, Yakima, WA, on September 30, 2017 at 11:00 am.
