Donald Joe Guthrie, 68, was “Knocking on Heavens Door” on Sept. 23, 2017 at home, completely surrounded by family and is now just a “Swingin’” with Jesus. He and his best friend and twin Ronald were born on March 12, 1949 in Harrison, Arkansas to Roy & Virginia (Hepperlen) Guthrie. Don loved his family very much and made friends with almost anyone he came in contact with. He and his brothers had a love for country music and played in many clubs & honky tonks all the way from Oklahoma to Washington. He loved anything that involved having a good time! Donnie met the love of his life Joyce Knight at the Tower drive-in theatre in 1969 and they were married on August 6, 1973. Together they had four daughters, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Donald leaves behind his wife Joyce who has been by his side for 48 years, his identical twin brother Ronnie, daughters Tina (Ralph), Joyce “Squeak” (Ramon) and Patricia (Chad), grandchildren Heather (Alfredo), Khatarena, Kyle (Magali), Destiny (Brian), Alecs (Amie), Kasandra (Tina), Jacob and Chance, great-grandchildren Ruben, Lennae, Ava and unborn baby Leevi, his beloved brothers Lee, Ronald, Loyde “Tuffy” and Rick, mother in-law Joy, sisters/brothers in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was greeted on the other side by his parents Roy and Virginia, step father Lester, father in-law Melvin, daughter Joanne, beloved brothers and sisters Jim, Dale, Lavonda and Faye, nephews Tommy & Sunny, sisters in-law Janet & Barbara along with many many more friends and family. There is definitely one heck of a party going on up there!!
Memorial services will be at the American Legion in Yakima on October 7, 2017 from 3-6 pm with a pot luck dinner.
Don will be missed by many and loved forever! Rest in peace our #1 outlaw until we meet again! “Go Donnie Go Go…. Donnie B. Goode”
