Una Madrid Bernier, 80, was reunited with the love of her life in Heaven above on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018. Una was born March 30th, 1937 in Springfield, MO to Claud F. Wood and Aurie V. (Willis) Wood.
Una grew up in Selah, WA and graduated from Selah High School where she med David W. Bernier. The two quickly fell in love and the high school sweethearts joined hands in holy matrimony on August 6th, 1955. Their everlasting love endured 62 wondrous years of life.
Una took pride and pleasure in founding and establishing our family’s roots. She raised six children and engraved in their lives skills, memories, and love that everyone will forever treasure. She taught her children the fun and appreciation for all things little and small; sewing, gardening, cooking, camping, clam digging, tending to chickens and rabbits, painting ceramics, canning food, baking, country western dancing, playing cards, and simply spending time together with family and friends.
Una is survived by her six children, Pamela Jo Newton, David W. Bernier, Jr., Brenda L. Bernier (Scott), Cindy G. Sargent (Keith), Gregory J. Bernier (Cathi), Bradley T. Bernier (Shauna); sister-in-law, Darlene Shafer (Dennis); 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her love of her life and husband of 62 years David W. Bernier and her loving parents Claud and Aurie Wood.
A beautiful celebration of everlasting love through life and death will be held this summer 2018 in honor of both Una and David Bernier. Arrangements are by Rainier Memorial Center of Yakima.
