Elvona “Vonie” (Clark) Thompson, 80, passed away peacefully with family by her side December 13th, 2019 at Crescent Health Care, Yakima, WA. Vonie was born July 25th, 1939 in Hartford City, Indiana to Clifford and Mary (Benton) Clark.
Vonie married James Thompson on September 1st, 1955 in Yakima, WA. Together they raised 5 children in Yakima and she worked in the apple industry for over 30 years. Family was everything to her; she loved gatherings (Easter egg hunt, 4th of July, Christmas and the Thompson Family Round-Up), and she was always there and ready to pitch in and make memories with the family. She loved her family and her grandchildren were her world.
Vonie is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Thompson, son James Thompson of Yakima, WA, daughter Gwendolyn (Everett) Stockton of Cinebar, WA, daughters Terrie (David) Turner and Tammy (Eric) Kanzig of Selah, WA, and son Chad (Boyd) Thompson/Kuntz of Yakima, WA, sisters Margo (Clark) Clements of Wenatchee, WA and Jennifer Clark of Yakima, WA, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vonie is preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Mary (Benton) Clark, sister MaryRose (Clark) Stevens and brothers Jack, Clifford and Robert Clark.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17th, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr., Yakima, WA.
