Kathleen “Katie” Mary Hosman was born to Jacob and Laura Vorrath in Janesville, Wisconsin in 1937, and passed away Saturday January 4, 2020. She was 82 years old.
Her family moved to Washington when she was in elementary school, and in eighth grade she attended Naches School, and then Naches Valley High School where she graduated in 1956. She met her future husband Ted Hosman in the eighth grade and they married on December 1, 1956 at Memorial Bible Church in Gleed, where she attended the rest of her life.
She worked for the Naches school district in the cafeteria in the early 1970s, then later moved up to the high school and retired from there.
Katie was known for her faith, she loved the Lord, and continually prayed for family and friends.
She was a lifelong devoted Seattle Mariners fan, avid animal lover, supported Gleed T-ball and Little League teams, and even sponsored the Little Shavers team, and loved her family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all neighbor kids passionately. Katie made sure everyone was always fed, safe and healthy. She liked to travel, especially to Mariners games, and was very social, and especially loved regular lunch dates with friends from high school and attending Thursday Family Lunches. Katie was loved and respected by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Ted, and her four children and their spouses, Teddie Hosman and David Kurz, Jill and Terry Loran, Kelly Hosman, and Jeff and Becky Hosman. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Rockne, her eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
The Celebration of Life for Katie Hosman will be Saturday January 11, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Bible Church in Gleed. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Yakima Humane Society in Katie’s name.
