Delores V. (Haussler) Sterns passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024.
Delores was born to Otto Haussler and Lydia Haussler on April 19, 1929. She attended Wapato High School and graduated in 1947.
She married Henry “Bud” Sterns on November 6, 1948. For many years they had a fruit farm in Zillah, and she took care of the bookkeeping. In addition to farming, they raised three daughters – Nancy, Cindy, and Janet. Delores enjoyed working on election committees for many years. During one of the Zillah Day parades, she was “Granny” on the Beverly Hills Float. Both Mom and Dad enjoyed taking many family trips to Twin Lakes. Delores volunteered at Memorial Hospital in the mammogram and one-day surgery department for more than 10 years.
Delores is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry “Bud” Sterns, her sister Phyllis (Haussler) Leach, her brother Harold Haussler, and grandson Timothy Doty.
Delores is survived by her daughters Nancy Sterns (Robert Charron), Cindy (Jim) Canaday, and Janet (Robin) Doty. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stacy (Robert) Poteet, Ben Charron, Jesse (Corrie) Canaday, Tom (Sandra) Canaday, Rita Canaday, Christie (George) Twigg, Greg Doty, Sarah (Wes) Bradshaw, and Derek (Vanessa) Doty, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Fieldstone Memory Care. They treated our mom with love and kindness.
There will be a private graveside service followed by a Celebration of Life at Rainier Memorial Center on August 16th at 11:00 A.M.
