Michael John "Mike" McGeary was born in Casper, Wyoming October 29th of 1956 to John Dunbar McGeary and Shirley Weikel. On March 21st, 2025, he passed away while surrounded by friends and family after a long, hard-fought battle with his health.
Shortly after his birth, he moved to Yakima Washington with his mother where she married Orville Shaw. Orville raised him as his own son and taught him how to hunt and fish while growing up in "The Nile" in Naches Washington.
Mike, then moved to Wapato, Washington where he attended Wapato High School. While in Highschool he played football alongside famed Seahawks running back Dr. Dan Doornick. Mike also won several accolades as a track athlete.
After high school Mike worked for the forest service on a "Hotshot" crew out of Tieton. He also had a small stint as a Smoke Jumper.
In May of 1983, he met the love of his life, Paula Leingang of Yakima. With whom he spent the next 41 years with. They quickly started a family after Paula became pregnant with Michael and then 4 years later Christa.
Mike quickly learned how to fix things growing up on farm. He got a job as a mechanic, which is what he did until he retired in 2022 from Simplot in Moxee.
Mike is survived by his Wife Paula, his children Michael and Khrysta McGeary, and grandchildren Dylan, Bella, and Jaxon. Also, various nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed spending time with.
A private service will be held with friends and family.
